    Dr. Desai scans the leg and marks the vein on your skin. You watch the screen with him.

    Numbing, then the procedure

    Local numbing only. The procedure itself takes 20 to 45 minutes.

    Walk out

    Compression stocking on. You drive yourself home and walk the same day.

  5. Week 1

    Check ultrasound

    We confirm the vein is closed. Most people are back at work the next day.

Before you book

A few good questions.

Do I need surgery for varicose veins?

No. Vein stripping is rarely done anymore. Everything we do is in-office, through a needle or a 2 mm entry point, with local numbing. Dr. Desai closes the faulty vein from the inside while you lie awake on the table, and you walk out the same day. Most people are back at work the next day.

Will I need an ultrasound?

Yes, almost always. A venous duplex ultrasound shows which way blood is flowing and which vein is causing the problem. Dr. Desai performs it himself at both clinics, it takes about 15 minutes, and you watch the screen with him. It is usually covered by insurance when you have symptoms.

Will insurance cover my visit or treatment?

If you have symptoms and the ultrasound shows reflux, most plans, including Medicare, treat ablation as medically necessary after a short trial of compression. Spider veins without symptoms are cosmetic and self-pay. We call your plan and verify coverage for free before you come in, so there are no surprises.

How do I choose Jonesboro or Wynne?

Choose whichever clinic is closer. Jonesboro is our main clinic on South Caraway Road and is open Monday, Wednesday and Thursday, 10 am to 6 pm, and on Tuesday and Friday by appointment. Wynne serves Cross County and the Delta by appointment. Dr. Desai sees patients at both, with the same ultrasound and the same in-office treatments.
